The second of four EAA Chapter 92 Young Eagles rallies was held on Saturday, June 12th - International Young Eagles Day at Yanks Air Museum a Chino Airport (KCNO).
Yanks Air Museum has has expanded and there is another hangar so there is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy one the BEST All American Aircraft Musuems. The day starts with registration in the front of the museum and then into the Jet hangar for the Welcome, Pledge of Allegiance and guidelines for the day. All the new Young Eagles (YE's) get to meet Garrett and get a first hand view of what their "first flight" is going to be like and start planning what to do next in their day.
The weather was slow to cooperate with "June gloom" and the flight ceiling did not lift early so flights finally got off the ground at approximately 12 nooon. There is not a dull moment with all the activites that are available and need to accomplished from the rally card.
There were 83 YE's flown with 16 pilots/airplanes and 25+ volunteers to help with registration, ground school, ground crew, load masters, Commando Jump, museum tours and a BBQ that served 200+ hot dog meals. There was lots of water to go around too!
A great big "THANK YOU" and appreciation to the following for making this day possible.

Without the dedication and committment of these wonderful pilots and volunteers, the day would not be as successful or as much FUN! The parents, guests, Boy Scout leaders and new Young Eagles had a GREAT experience and there were probably a few sunburns, but a smile on everyone's face and a lasting memory of their experience into the world of general aviation.
THANK YOU for "Sharing the Passion for Aviation with the Future" |
